Proud of HKR 2545/3220 student performance yesterday. 3 degrees, wind to 60 km/h, & rain. We were out practicing their outdoor living & leadership skills & from the smiles-rocking it! Warm, dry, & comfortable in foul weather-that's adventurous learning at its finest! @memorialuniversity @memorialustudentsWe were driving home from teaching outside, looking forward to a hot dinner, and looked over at Long Pond. It was like glass and we both said, “Let’s go paddling.” The pond was three feet higher than yesterday and we shared its glassy surface with muskrats, ducks, and ducklings. A truly peaceful end to a lovely albeit cold and rainy day out. The sun may have even peaked out for a minute or two. When a big view makes you feel small on the outside and big on the inside. The barachois in Freshwater Bay always captures my attention (and provides an invite to pause and look) while on a hike on the @eastcoasttrail #hikenlFor camera club tonight, I needed to find some images to submit...knowing that summits are happening on Everest right now-I dropped back 13 years and found some pics from that expedition to share. Interesting to revisit and see what the ability to process the images can do and bring forth some images I haven't shared much before (note-the first one is one I use sometimes in presentations but the others are newly shared. Enjoy and to the summit and safe return for all seekers of and workers in support of high places.Visited my favourite brook tonight on a scouting hike and made a deposit into my “blue mind” account-water is a powerful energy for the mind and soul.TA’s Facebook Page

Mountains to Sea
I remember being fascinated as a kid when I learned that all water went to the sea. That the rain that fell in our lake emptied into a creek then joined with a river which eventually flowed to the ocean…amazing. … Continue reading

Making A Mountain out of a Molehill: A “Climb” of Denmark’s Highest Peak
Mountaineering is never far removed from controversies of style, ethics, and access. Denmark’s Mollehoj is no exception. It was only crowned Denmark’s highest “natural” point in 2005 when re-measurement and disqualification of ancient burial mounds gave it, the five centimeters … Continue reading
